Privacy: pupil names never leave your device
Adam Hale Report Writer is a set of static files that runs entirely in your browser. When you type a class list, pick levels and write comments, none of it is sent to a server. There is no AI service behind it, no account, no cookies, no analytics and no advertising.
Where your data lives
| What | Where it is kept |
|---|---|
| Pupil names, pronouns, levels, notes and comments | Only in your browser's memory while you work. If you tick "Keep this class in this browser" they are also kept in this browser's local storage on your device. Never sent to us or anyone else. |
| Your work between page reloads | This tab's session storage (cleared when you close the tab). |
| Licence key | This browser's local storage, after you paste it. Checked on your device. |
| Files you download (CSV, Word, class file) and PDFs you print | Created on your device and saved where you choose. |
| Sentence bank files | Downloaded from this site. They contain sentences with placeholders such as [Name], never pupil data. |
What our server sees
The site is hosted on Cloudflare Workers. Like any website, the host receives standard request information (such as IP address and browser type) when pages and sentence files are downloaded; we run no analytics, and Worker logging (observability) is switched off for this site. The requests contain no pupil information: the app downloads whole sentence bank files and does the rest on your device.
The page's security policy (Content-Security-Policy) only allows the app to connect to this site, so even a bug could not send data to another server.
For schools and data protection leads
- No personal data about pupils is processed by us, so no data processing agreement is needed for the app itself. Teachers still follow your school's own policy on where reports are drafted and stored.
- Use first names only if you prefer; the app needs nothing else. Delete saved data with the button in the app, or by clearing this site's data in the browser.
- If payments open, the payment provider (for example Lemon Squeezy, Paddle or Payhip) processes the buyer's name, email and payment details as the seller of record, under its own privacy policy. That is the buyer's data, not pupils' data, and it never reaches the app.
